(Sterling Heights, MI) – Sterling Heights City Councilman Nate Shannon announced his campaign for the 25th District in the Michigan State House of Representatives today. Shannon looks to succeed State Rep. Henry Yanez who is term limited.
In a room packed with supporters, Shannon said his priorities in Lansing will include increased funding for K-12 education, fixing Michigan’s crumbling roads, senior and veteran services, and environmental protections.
“I am dedicated to making our state a place that provides opportunities for everyone,” Shannon says. “One that provides the necessary services to our seniors and veterans. One that makes sure our kids are safe in school. One that protects our natural resources for future generations. And one that creates a thriving economy that provides good jobs for the working and middle class.”
Nate is a married father of three. He and his family reside in Sterling Heights. In addition to his role on city council, Shannon is a teacher with the L’Anse Creuse Public School District in Clinton Township. The 25th District is currently represented by State Rep. Henry Yanez who cannot run again due to term limits.
The 25th district covers all of Sterling Heights east of Van Dyke as well as a portion of northeast Warren.
