Sterling Heights, MI – State Rep. John Chirkun, D-Warren/Roseville, Friday announced his endorsement of Sterling Heights City Councilman Nate Shannon for the 25th District State House seat.
“In his time on City Council, Nate has proven himself to be a leader and progressive voice for the residents of Sterling Heights,” said Chirkun. “Nate has proven that he is a friend of working families and will fight for them in Lansing.”
“I’m extremely grateful for Rep. Chirkun’s endorsement and look forward to working with him in Lansing on behalf of Michigan’s working families,” said Shannon. “Michigan families have been getting a raw deal from Lansing Republican’s who’d rather hand out corporate tax breaks instead of addressing the problems in Michigan like our crumbling infrastructure.”
Nate is a married father of three. He and his family currently reside in Sterling Heights. In addition to his role on Council, Shannon works as a teacher in the L’Anse Creuse School District. The 25th District is currently represented by State Rep. Henry Yanez, who cannot run again due to term limits.
The 25th district covers all of Sterling Heights, east of Van Dyke as well as a portion of northeast Warren.
