The Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union (MPFFU), comprising of 7,500 active and retired members, endorsed Nate Shannon for the 25th district seat in the Michigan House of Representatives today.
“We know we can count on Nate’s support of not only Michigan fire fighters, but all working people around the state,” said MPFFU President Mark Docherty. “We are pleased to endorse Nate and trust he will be an industrious and principled state representative, which is exactly what we need in Lansing right now.”
Shannon is a public school teacher, MEA member and Sterling Heights City Councilman. In addition to MPFFU, Shannon has been endorsed by Sterling Heights Fire Fighters 1557 and Warren Fire Fighters Local 1383. When elected, Shannon will be a tenacious fighter for Michigan’s working families and is committed to boosting the state’s K-12 education system, protecting the Great Lakes from corporate polluters and restoring local control.
“I’m humbled and overwhelmed by the support I received from some of Michigan’s most selfless and brave individuals,” Shannon said. “Just as fire fighters work around the clock to protect families and distinguish fires, I will go to Lansing and do the same.”
Since announcing his campaign in February, Shannon has also been endorsed by the Michigan Education Association, Sterling Heights Police Officers Association, Warren Police Officers Association, Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights, Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council, State Rep. Henry Yanez, Rep. John Chirkun, Rep. Patrick Green, Plumbers Local 98, UNITE HERE Local 24 and UA Local 363.
