The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Ironworkers Union, representing more than 120,000 members nationwide, endorsed Nate Shannon for Michigan’s 25th House District today.
“We’re endorsing Nate Shannon because we believe he has the integrity and leadership skills needed to address the array of issues currently facing Michigan,” said Iron Workers Local Union No. 25 President Dennis Aguirre. “Nate’s experience in his community will make him a great advocate for the hardworking men and women in this state.”
Shannon is a public school teacher, MEA member and Sterling Heights City Councilman. When elected, Shannon will work to ensure Michigan’s students have the freedom to pursue their dreams and obtain the skills needed to compete for good-paying jobs, whether through affordable 4-year college or skilled trades training.
“After recent baseless attacks on Michigan’s working family, I am honored the Iron Workers trust me to represent them in Lansing,” Shannon said. “All working people deserve a fair shot at the American Dream, with the freedom to negotiate for strong paychecks and a fair pension.”
The Iron Workers join AFSCME, the Michigan Education Association, the Sterling Heights Police Officers Association, Sterling Heights Fire Fighters 1557, Warren Fire Fighters Local 1383, Warren Police Officers Association, the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights, the Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council, State Rep. Henry Yanez, Rep. John Chirkun, Rep. Patrick Green, Plumbers Local 98, UNITE HERE Local 24 and UA Local 363 to endorse Shannon for State Representative.
