The Michigan State AFL-CIO, a federation of labor organizations representing more than 1 million active and retired members, endorsed Nate Shannon for Michigan’s 25th House District today.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to support a candidate like Nate who is committed to the interests of working families,” said Michigan AFL-CIO President Ron Bieber. “We are confident Nate will support Michigan workers’ right to bargain for improved living conditions, working conditions and communities”
Shannon is a public school teacher, MEA member and Sterling Heights City Councilman. When elected, Shannon will fight to protect and provide the things Michigan families need, like access to affordable health care, fair wages, affordable college and job training, and state of the art public schools.
“It is an enormous privilege to have the support of the AFL-CIO, who work tirelessly with their members to bring economic and social justice to the workplace,” Shannon said. “The key to a bright future for Michigan is supporting and uplifting local working families. With the power of collective bargaining, skilled jobs training opportunities and living wages, we can help Michigan families succeed across the state.”
